“FROM YESTERDAY TO TODAY“: ANTAKYA EXHIBITION

“Antakya: From Yesterday to Today” On the Edge of Destruction – In the Footsteps of Antakya Exhibition.

October 17-June 30

The Quincentennial Foundation Museum of Turkish Jews – Istanbul

A parallel event of the 18th Istanbul Biennial

Three years after the stones were displaced, the voices silenced, and lives lost, we invite you to rethink Antakya. This exhibition, which bears witness to a city's memory, resilience, and potential for transformation, is an effort to create a “now” on the fragile bridge between past and future.

Coordinated by Rubi Asa and Nisya İşman Allovi, the exhibition features:

Architect Rubi Asa and Liza Cemel contribute with photographs that convey a powerful visual memory of Antakya.

Pianist and composer Renan Koen deepens the emotional layer of the exhibition with his impressive installation works on “sound memory.”

The exhibition progresses along four thematic axes:

-Remembering — Life before the earthquake, sounds, smells, beliefs

-Shaking — The moment of destruction, losses, silence

-Feeling — Lost senses, echoes of the past

-Healing — Resistance, solidarity, and efforts to rebuild

Antakya, like a three-legged cat, is walking again with unsteady but determined steps...

And we offer a trace, a testimony to this walk.
