In recent years, identity has come to be recognized as one of the most important research topics in the social sciences and has become increasingly present in our lives.
This growing interest in the concept of identity is of vital importance in terms of revealing and sustaining the cultural, religious and nostalgic heritage of Sephardic Jews in Turkey. Demographic, sociological and political changes affect Sephardim's processes of identification and the ways in which they maintain/transmit their identities.
This presentation, which deals with the nostalgic elements of Sephardic identity in Turkey, aims to recognize and explain how cuisine, music, language and religious rituals have transformed along with identity in the historical process.
