On May 25, 2010, the name of Jak Kamhi, the Founding President of the Foundation between 1989-2008 and its current Honorary President, was given to the Main Hall of the Museum and perpetuated with a crystal plaque on the wall.
The ceremony, which was attended by a distinguished group of guests including Jak Kamhi's family and close circle, Chief Rabbi of the Turkish Jews Isak Haleva, President of the Turkish Jewish Community Sami Herman, Honorary President Bensiyon Pinto, Past President Silvio Ovadya, Consul General of Israel in Istanbul Moshe Kamhi and Jak Kamhi's family and close circle, was presented by Moris Levi, Counselor to the Chief Rabbinate of Turkey.
Naim A. Güleryüz, President of the Foundation, first took the floor and summarized Jak Kamhi's contacts and efforts to promote Turkey abroad, accompanied by a visual presentation and a film of the ceremony in which Jak Kamhi was awarded the State Distinguished Service Medal by the 10th President Ahmet Necdet Sezer.
Afterwards, Sami Herman and Chief Rabbi Isak Haleva thanked Kamhi for his work honoring the community and presented him with a plaque.
After the unveiling of the crystal plaque of the “Jak V. Kamhi Hall” by Kamhi and Güleryüz, Jak Kamhi took the floor and shared some important memories of his work with the guests.
The ceremony ended with İvet Güleryüz saying “Every successful man has a woman beside him, not behind him” and presenting a flower to Tüli Kamhi, Jak Kamhi's wife.
